There has been quite some news about the PlayStation phone that Sony's going to release soon. Some facts have been dugged up about the PlayStation phone and now here's the phone itself in video.
First reported way back in March, the device, codenamed Zeus Z1 will hit the market soon enough. Some sources say it's optimistically targeting a 2010 release but in my opinion a 2011 release will be more likely.
The device is running Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread). Also included is a Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The phone has a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. As the video demonstrates, the phone has a touchpad which is apparently multitouch (the video doesn't demonstrate it though), and you can see in the video, it's still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. Camera is also rumoured to be 5.0 megapixels. You should also be informed that know that there's no Memory Stick slot, but there is support for microSD cards. More information will surface soon enough.
It's going to be interesting looking at how exactly the PlayStation phone will perform in terms of sales. It looks awesome and is multitouch. The games indeed will be downloadable and the device will be capable of playing original PlayStation titles. Interesting.
PlayStation titles and PSP games that would make it on the upcoming device are rumoured to include the likes of God of War and LittleBigPlanet . Modern Warfare, which has never seen a PSone or PSP iteration, is also mentioned as a title "possibly on tap" for the device.
And if you're wondering how the games load, there's another video of the same guy in the first video touching the PlayStation icon. Sadly, there are no games loaded.
