Okay, I've said that I purchased a Hero Factory figure. He's Evo 2.0 and here's a review:
EVO 2.0
Here's a bio of Evo from LEGO's website:
Time to bring the heavy artillery into action!
Code red alert! The fire villains are stealing our hero-pod fuel at Tanker Station 22. Only your brute strength can overpower them! Use your new headgear to see through the smoke and your upgraded shield with double-barrel ice cannon to cool them down. Time to teach them a lesson they’ll never forget!
Pretty cool. Nuff' said.
Packaging
Pretty standard packaging. The bottom of the canisterr lid has a code that can be entered at herofactory.lego.com. Lots of cool stuff and a game where you play as the Hero that you purchased. That means you'll have to purchase the rest for more playable characters.
On the back of the canister, you'll see that half of it is covered with warnings and info. On the top, you can see the combiner set; a bigger set that you can build with 2 Heros. You can also find the instructions to build the combiner set at the hero factory website.
Building Process
Spill the parts! You can see that yellow and black is Evo's color scheme (with purple being a minor colour)
All the parts laid out nicely. LEGO has really simplified their sets. There aren't any pins or rods to connect the pieces. Instead the connecters are built in ball joints and pins. There's 31 pieces to Evo 2.0 and 1 instruction booklet.
Like I said, the armor pieces are connected to the body via ball joints. Above, the ball joint is in the middle.
Instructions are nice and easy to follow. Typical LEGO style.
Near the end of the instruction booklet there's a summary of all EVO's parts.
Building Evo is a breeze. You can build him in less than 10 minutes. The fast building time is thanks to the elimination of pins and rods.
Attaching the armor piece. It's strangely satisfying to attach it.
Alright! He's almost ready for action!
Building Evo's weapon.
Evo's chest piece. I like the H in the center of it. Reminds me of Iron Man's chest arc reactor.
Tada! Here's a completed Evo 2.0 ready to fight off evil!
Posing
Evo 2.0 is pretty poseable. Though it's hard to balance him with his weapon equipped. Also, because of his short limbs, you'll find it quite difficult to make advanced poses.
A minor gripe is that Evo has a pretty empty back. Just a slight gripe.
Side to side comparison with Skrall.
Here you can see how LEGO reduced their figure's size. Evo is pretty small compared to Lewa. He almost could be a matoran.
Final thoughts
Evo 2.0 is a fun guy to play with. With Hero Factory having an urban/city setting he really fits the theme. With the removal of external pins and rods, it's hard to lose his parts. But I'm sad that he's so small. It would be great if the future Heroes are larger in size. Because of the shortness of his limbs posing is limited.
Overall, Evo 2.0 is a solid Hero Factory figure. I'd recommend him. Playing with him makes me excited for the future releases of Hero Factory. (But LEGO, please make them bigger :D )
