SMS Language = Noobs

Lately I've been busy. Yes. Very busy. So busy that breathing has become a difficult task to complete. I've coded a program in Javascript to remind me to inhale and exhale.

I'm kidding. Sort of. Actually, I have been a bit busy but the reason why I haven't updated in a while is because I'm lazy. So what? You guys aren't paying me money anyway. I'm just joking. Don't take that seriously xD. So, lately I've been occupying myself with learning HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP. Yeah, I figured that being a web designer would be a pretty cool to thing. I've even got myself some free hosting. I'm finished with HTML and CSS and now I'm gonna learn Javascript

Okay back on track. So as a Malaysian (well, some of you) you should already know about 'Bahasa SMS'. This language, found all over the world with different names like 'SMS Language", "txtese", "chatspeak" and "SMS Sprache". Mainly, this language is used to shorten long words so you can lazily type in just a few letters without changing the meaning and is usually used in SMSs and Messenger Programs.

I have nothing against this abomination of a language and even I'm guilty of using it sometimes. But it's just plain wrong to use it during verbal communication or mediums other than text messaging. Okay, I'm just gonna go straight to the point. You use it on Facebook. I'm not pointing fingers to anyone by the way, so don't get too sensitive about it.

Usage of 'Bahasa SMS' is very common among Malaysians when they use Facebook. Why? Too lazy to type? Too slow to type out long words? Because everyone else uses it? Give me a good reason.

Here's an example. Please note that all content is fake and was photoshopped in 5 minutes.

In the US and other countries like it, usage of the SMS Language in Facebook is frowned upon. You risk attaining the unhonourary title of 'N00b' . What's a N00b? N00b, or noob, is another word for newbie mainly used in the Internet. It is an insult to be called a Noob. Noobs will be kicked, punched, slaughtered, massacred and obliterated by everyone else.

Hell, even if you misspell one word on the Internet, you'll be insulted. Take Grammar Nazis for example. Their main objective is to correct everybody's grammar mistakes. Check it out here : Grammar Nazis are awesome

But we Malaysians consider using textspeak in the Internet as normal. It's cool to shorten your words in the Internet. Yes, I know that some people use some Interneet acronym like LOL, but Malaysians shorten every word they speak. "Aq x suke lh, ko dh blaja BM penat2 ko pndekkan cm noob"/. So, what does that make you? A noob. A freakin' noob. Cut it out already. You don't have a ticking time bomb if you type slowly. Take your damn time and type.

The conclusion is, if Malaysians don't stop with their usage of 'Bahasa SMS' on the Internet, you will be forever perceived as a noob by other communities. Good luck. I hope you don't get slaughtered.
